Lens, hosts first annual job application training day for immigrants & refugees on 30 November

Helping people to grow and step up in their careers is what drives us at Lens, Executive Search. Not everybody has access to the right tools to grow or means to even take the first step on any corporate ladder. And even people in more privileged surroundings often struggle to choose the right career path. With this in mind, we being part of Kennedy Executive have set Friday 30 November as Kennedy Cares Day. Our objective is to give job application training, knowledge sharing, drafting c.v.’s  and to give introductions to our clients and network partners. The theme of the day is education and will be hosted not only in Amsterdam, but also at our partner offices in South Africa, Norway, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, France, Denmark, Monaco and the United States.

In Amsterdam, Lens is partnering with Netwerk Pro and Dress for Success. We have created a compact program focussing on skill-development for immigrants (especially refugees) as well as a knowledge transfer for their business partners around the do’s and don’t of hiring specialists within the Netherlands. The Executive Search Consultants of Lens will give workshops for the participants. Yarden, OrangeHill, KIT (Royal Tropical Institute) and Decowraps will meet with various candidates and talk about potential internships or work placements.

What are our partner offices doing on 30 November 2018?

Our office Evolve/Kennedy Executive in Johannesburg, South Africa will organise a career day for underprivileged students of the Diakona’s district high schools. In bordering Zimbabwe, the Norwegian charity Sabona helps the local, often impoverished, population to set up educational projects on both primary and University level. Human Assets Consulting/Kennedy Executive Oslo partnered with Sabona and hosts a fundraiser on Kennedy Cares Day to benefit the charity’s activities further.

In Czech Republic, Delta Advisory/Kennedy Executive Prague joins NGO Nadani a dovednosti (Talent & Skills) that helps teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds and orphanages prepare for their future career. Candidates or others approaching them for a ‘quick coffee’ or ‘chat about their career’ will now be charged €40,-, This will be fully donated to the Danish charity to support them in putting a smile of the face of hospitalised children. At the same time, they can offer a more structured session to those with career or work related questions to help them progress. A win-win for everybody.

In Budapest, Ikelosz / Kennedy Executive Budapest, teams up with the Hungarian chapter of the European Youth Association at Corvinus University. The team of Ikelosz will offer economics students a day about trends in the labour market and requirements in employees. Further to this, Ikelosz will have face to face career consulting sessions of 30 minutes each, for students who want to discuss their career choices and future.

Start-ups need help, even in glitzy Monaco, where Frisenberg J. Associates/Kennedy Executive Monaco, teams up with MonacoTech, The University of Monaco’s incubator for entrepreneurs. Caroline Frisenberg will host a workshop for starting companies and their employees to assist them in their online branding. Helping these companies grow will ultimately result in new jobs and opportunities for others.

States side, in Denver Colorado, Integrated People Solutions/Kennedy Executive Denver teams up with Junior Achievement. This organisation in committed to helping High School students prepare for their future and making the right decisions.  The team in Denver will take over 4 class rooms for a full day at a High School where 84% of the students come from underprivileged families or backgrounds.

With Denver, the first Kennedy Cares Day comes to a close. But the network plans to organise a similar day every year. Thijs Zoontjens, Consultant at Lens,: “As a network we benefit from sharing knowledge, best practices and connections. With this, we create global value for our clients without loosing local relevance. We all felt that we should put this to use to help not just our clients, but others too. That’s how we came up with Kennedy Cares Day. By organising this on a single day each year, we create a bit of global impact, around the clock, however small it may be. We look forward to helping these kids and hope to be able to make a change.”
