Your Challenge
As Human Resources Manager you are responsible for the Human Resources development and implementation within (inter)national War Child. You work together with Director Shared Operations and ensure the operational and tactical translation of the overall strategy into specific HR initiatives.
You support the teams across the assigned countries through the provision of the full HR cycle and collaborate with the International Management Team (IMT) to ensure that HR products and services are implemented and adopted appropriately globally. You advice the teams in th, to ensure the total compliance with all local laws, regulations and policies, and any regulatory related requirements
As HR Manager you coordinate and execute a diversity of HR projects such as implementation of a global workforce framework, induction, global HR IT system, staff care, succession planning, etc. Next to daily HR operational tasks, you also lead and coach the team of experienced HR professionals, based in Amsterdam.

Function
- Translate and ensure the implementation of the HR strategy within the longer-term organisational strategy, being the link between the own HR agenda and the global organization needs
- Ensure that HR policies and procedures are followed and adhered to by the global organization
- Provide the framework to establish and improve the necessary HR processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness
- Steer development of the departmental objectives, policies and systems
- Ensure the technical implementation of a global workforce with i.e. diversity of contracts, policies, etc.
- Verify that all countries adhere to the set of operational policies and procedures and national law and report to the DSO on it status
- Propose and monitor the departmental budget and provide the quarterly HR financial updates
- Lead direct reports by coaching them on their performance and development.
Requirements
- University degree in Human Resources Management
- Required a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a HR Management position in an international (humanitarian) organisation
- Experience and affinity with Humanitarian and/or Development sector with a global mindset
- Inspirational and decisive, with the ability to engage teams and create followership
- Demonstrated capacity to take decisions regarding tactical and operational matters
- A results-driven approach and a focus on delivering measurable outcomes
- Experience in managing a team of professionals, being a sparring partner who dares to thrive on team ownership and engagement
- Strong project coordination experience, to monitor progress and report on it
- Solid knowledge of HR practices, Dutch employment law and of international labour regulations, processes and trends
- Demonstrated good organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to diagnose issues & identify key solutions while remaining calm under pressure
- Ability and willingness to switch between operational work and strategy implementation
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills, able to deal effectively in a variety of cultural and political contexts
- Understanding of legal implications and risk management
- Dutch native speaker with full proficiency in English
- Available 32-40 hours per week and based in Amsterdam.
